Northern Alliance Round Up 18/05/13
Amble United’s campaign ended on a high with a victory – but it was tinged with sadness as the club announced that it was quitting the Northern Alliance and folding.
Darren Riddell’s 20 yard lob with cancelled out by a double from Wallsend Town’s James Garwood, but David King pounced on a loose ball to level.
Matty Graham then thumped a 30-yarder into the roof of the net and Sean Taylor completed the scoring as he drilled into the bottom corner.
Heaton Stannington’s Gary Yates netted a double at Ashington Colliers and Anthony Johnson claimed the other in a cracking game that ended all square with Glen Bolton, David Brown and Shaun Gibson on target for the Colliers.
Michael Bowman’s solo strike and another from Jordan Fry put Killingworth Sporting ahead at Percy Main, who hit back with a Scott Pocklington penalty. Pocklington then volleyed in the equaliser a minute later from a corner.
Cullercoats hit six as they lifted themselves out of the Division One danger zone against Newcastle Chemfica Independent, who replied through Craig Robinson (2) and Garrick Murphy-Collins.
Goals from Morpeth Town A’s Gavin Agnew and Brian Barclay gave them the lead at the break against Heddon. But the Craik Park youngsters, who are also quitting the Alliance at the end of the season, couldn’t hold out and John Pearson struck twice to snatch a point.
Anthony Smith, Lee Cutherbertson and Dan Waller were on the scoresheet in the opening period for Birtley Saint Josephs at Longbenton.
They were given a few nervy moments when the Bulls hit back twice in two minutes from Robert Woods and David Hetherington, but captain Martin Guy eased the pressure with a fourth that takes the club to within a point of promotion to Division One.

Kevin Carr was the Heaton Stannington hero with the only goal at Blyth Town.
Striker Carr pounced to put the loose ball into the back of the net during a first half goalmouth scramble, which took the black and white’s to within a point of back-to-back Titles – and finally broke Town’s impressive 27-game unbeaten record.
Dave King’s back post header for Amble United was cancelled out by Darren Walsh’s strike for Killingworth Sporting. Rikki Hume slipped in from a narrow angle to restore United’s lead but Michael Bowman levelled again from the penalty spot.
Sean Taylor hit the winner for the Seasiders in the 85thminute.
Whitley Bay A’s Ryan Keltie also hit a late goal at Harraby United, heading an equaliser from an 87th minute corner.
The Seahorses led through a deflected Josh Day shot that went in off defender Ashley Coombe’s head, but the Cumbrians turned things around with a Lee Otway drive and Peter Ferris tap in before Keltie struck.
Rikki James struck twice to put Carlisle City in charge against Ashington Colliers but two in quick succession just before the break from Joe Moscrop, with a long range drive, and a Michael Hogg header made it all square.

The Division One title race heated up as Wallington slipped up at home to Cramlington Town. David Mason, Mark Waite and Paul Joicse netted for the visitors with Justin Millican and Josh Gilmartin scoring for the Greens.
Red House Farm’s Zak Brogden struck twice in the final ten minutes as they kept their title hopes alive with a win over Morpeth Town A, who netted through Anthony Coxon. Martin Soulsby and Lee Brady got the others for Farm, with Town keeper David Hanson having a superb game between the sticks.
Joe Bell and John Dewhurst both struck twice for Gateshead Redheugh as they hit seven at Forest Hall. Kev Hay, Ryan Davenport and Mark Innes got the others, with Alex Gomez and Dieu Lomana replying. Daniel Sneap hit a hat-trick as Cullercoats gave themselves hope of beating the drop with a surprise 5-2 win over in-form Bedlington Terriers Reserves. Jonathon Ranson and Sean Smith got the others.
Willington Quay Saints signed off with a win over Hexham, John Foggett hitting the only goal from the penalty spot, while Newcastle Uni’s Jake Salisbury and Johnny Sexton netted as they beat Ponteland United 2-1.
Cameron Wilson (2) and Mark Worral scored for Northbank in their 3-1 success against Heddon and Bohemians had Travis Couling, Alex Kennedy, Paul Dixon and Patrick O’Donaghie on target at Newcastle Chemfica, who netted through Ian Hutchinson and Tito Davison.
Goals from Tom Cowx, Scott Jasper, Matty Donkin and Anthony Keith sparked the North Shields Athletic Championship party.
Promotion challengers Birtley Saint Joseph’s netted through James Bowman but they couldn’t put a dampener on Athletic’s celebrations.

Dave Hewitt and Chris Baker scored in Seaton Burn’s win at Newcastle Benfield Reserves, who had Stephen Thompson on target, while Louis Ellis netted for Swalwell against Wooler, who had James Scott fire home.
It also ended 1-1 at Wallsend Boys Club, who had Scott Lowery celebrating, with Michael Jordan crashing in for visitors Cramlington United.

Birtley Saint Joseph’s lifted the Pin Pint Recruitment Amateur Cup with a goal in each half against Blyth Isabella.
Saint Joe’s sharpshooter Damien Stevens made it 1-0 when struck home on the volley from just inside the box in the 15th minute and James Bowman added the second with a header from a free kick in the 66thminute to take the trophy.

Blyth Town kept up the pressure as Craig Hopwood hit the only goal and they survived a late penalty appeal scare at Whitley Bay A while Chris Hall netted a double and Richard Lally the other in Stocksfield’s comfortable win at Killingworth Sporting.
Dean Armstrong’s header went in off the woodwork to put Harraby United ahead against Ashington Colliers and Peter Ferris rounded the keeper to add a second before Ross Dixon hit a consolation lob and Carlisle City’s Stuart Kilgour, Brandon Longcake and Martin Shepherd stretched the back of the Percy Main net in a win that saw the visitors reduced to ten men and pull one back through Chris Bell.

Longbenton’s Kevin Gordon was a sharpshooter with four in a ten goal thriller against Alston.

Michael Starkie got both of Wallsend Boys Club’s goals at Newcastle Benfield Reserves from set-pieces with Steven Thompson pulling one back and Swalwell celebrated a win against Seaton Burn with Micky Hara banging in two and Chris Watson grabbing the other. Ben Dixon and Craig Wood scored for the visitors.
Northern Alliance Round Up 27/04/13
Heaton Stannington hit top gear in the title run in as Lee Johnson smashed in a hat-trick in a demolition job on Percy Main.
Gary McGarrigal headed in, Jonathon Wright tucked away another and Kev Carr drilled in low from a corner while Johnson nodded home, took advantage of a defensive mix-up and fired in to complete a fine treble. Adrian Watson lobbed in a consolation.
Blyth Town kept their own title hopes alive with three late goals at Carlisle City that probably put paid to any lingering hopes that the Cumbrians harboured of taking the silverware themselves.
Jack Stanley fired in from a corner to give unbeaten Town an early advantage and City took a further blow when keeper Adam Bradley went off injured and had to be replaced by midfielder Stuart Kilgour between the sticks.
However, goals from Dan Greenslade and Dan Bulman turned things around only for sub Graham Heath to equalise in the 76th minute and Blyth breathed easier just sixty seconds later as John Amos put them ahead. Kyle devlin rounded things off with a couple of minutes to go.
Harraby United’s Dean Armstrong let fly from 25 yards to add to Lee Otway’s opener at Killingworth Sporting, who hit a late consolation through Ben Taylor and goals from Reece Davies and Karl Campbell gave Stocksfield the points against Shankhouse, who netted through Paul Dunn.
Ray Oshin haunted his former Hebburn Reyrolle team-mates with a double that keeps them in the relegation zone. Michael Fenwick, Mason Stephenson and Kevin Westphal added the others for Seaton Delaval while Ashington Colliers maintained their good run with goals from Michael Hogg and Jamie Patterson at relegated Rutherford, who had levelled through Shaun Todhunter.

in the final 15 minutes to lift the Kicks Leisure George Dobbins League
Cup.
A Sam Walton penalty had put the underdogs ahead and although Jonathon
Wright levelled things up before the break, Jordan Nellis struck to
give the Greens hopes of pulling off a surprise.
But the Premier Division leader's quality told in the end as Wright
added a second from the penalty spot and Lee Johnson (2), Gary Dixon
and Anthony Johnson all netted late on to take the silverware.
The Pin Point Recruitment Combination Cup Final
Ponteland United 1 Red House Farm 1 (AET - Ponteland United won 5-4 on penalies)
Martin Soulsby fired Red House Farm ahead in the first half, but the game was levelled when the Red House keeper was dismissed for a foul in the box and United’s Paul Hodgson slammed in the equaliser from the penalty spot.
The ten men battled gamely on and had a great chance to go in front in the first period of extra time, but missed a spot-kick of their own.
They paid the price when they missed another in the penalty shoot-out as the black and whites claimed the silverware.

Six points clear with nine games to play – the cards are getting stacked in Heaton Stannington’s favour.
The black and whites have been on a phenomenal winning run and show no signs of letting up as they look to take back-to-back titles.
Derek Thompson’s side have applied to move up into Division Two of the Northern League next term and they are looking to do it in style as a goal in each half from Lee Johnson and Kevin Carr secured the points against Walker Central.

The race at the top of the table shows no sign of letting up as Amble United, Heaton Stannington and Blyth Town all recorded big wins on the road.
United’s Sean Taylor celebrated hitting a hat-trick in a resounding 6-0 success at Wallsend Town, with Ross Gair, Josh Hay and Matty Graham sticking away the others while Heaton’s Lee Johnson fired in two stunning long range free kicks, and Jonathon Wright also plundered a double, in a good win at Harraby.
The Cumbrians had Darren Addison head in and were pressing until two goals in stoppage time sealed it.
Daniel Beresford had his shooting boots on at Percy Main and also hit a hat-trick, with Chris Lyle and John Iveson also hitting the net, while James Leggett hit a late consolation while Town keeper Scott Earl also saved a penalty.
Rob Haney, Kevin Westphal and Alex Redfearn scored for Seaton Delaval in the first half against Rutherford, but the bottom side rallied and pulled one back through Peter Williams. John Robson added the fourth for the Red Devils.
Three players saw red at Killingworth Sporting as Jamie Patterson’s double gave Ashington Colliers the points, Jack Foulds’ strike proving just a consolation, while Josh Walsh fired Shankhouse ahead at Walker Central.

FA Inter-League Cup
The Northern Alliance’s hopes of advancing in the FA Inter-League Cup were dashed by a second half strike from the Cheshire League’s Ged McAllister, who swept in a breakaway left wing cross in the 66th minute.
In a tight game in windy conditions at Witton Albion, the Alliance, represented by Carlisle City, pushed forward in search of a leveller in the last ten minutes but Cheshire defended stoutly to advance.
